LACEWORK
Reporting Framework

CONTEXT
Important yet underdeveloped feature
Lacework's product sales are often driven by managers & executives seeking security insights and ROI. To support the product-led growth strategy, I led the end-to-end product design of a scalable reporting framework, working on strategy, research, ideation, iterations, and design launch.
GOAL
Success metrics
-
Increase report engagement (views, downloads, and scheduled runs).
-
Introduce essential report types according to users' needs.
-
Improve report content's time-to-value.
CHALLENGE
Complex user flow & org uncertainty
-
Rudimentary existing reporting capability and feasibility constraints.
-
Balance complex reporting processes with an intuitive user experience.
-
Multiple PM & Eng ownership switches due to org and personnel changes.
-
Limited Engineer resources.

USER INSIGHTS
Unmet needs for 2 user personas group
After conducting 10 user interviews and reviewing existing research, I found that the current reporting system does not meet the needs of both report creators (security analyst) and readers (Manager & Executive).

USER INSIGHTS
Enterprises can have 1000+ different reports
Enterprise users have a complex system and usually can have an overwhelmingly large number of different reports. They need a way to manage them efficiently.
CORE EXPERIENCE
Manage large number of reports
